Haven’t done a blog post in absolutely ages, mostly down to be being very busy with work/home life and partly because i forgot i had a blog! So a quick round up since Feb (or what i can remember). Rajan’s birthday went well, finally had the house in a presentable state, friends & family came round Rajan eat loads of cake, and didn’t sleep that night because he was all sugared up!

Had to deal with a nightmare tenant, she was an absolute bitch, didn’t pay rent ontime, was 3 months late, wallpapered one of the walls black, broke one of the windows, never answered phone calls, pretended she was out when i came round, then left without giving notice. On the plus side I’ve enjoyed giving the utilities companies/baliffs information to her whereabouts (Rant Over!)

Rajan caught swine flu (or what the Dr thoguht was Swine Flu), he was sent home after 2 of the kids & one of the teachers at his nursery caught it, he soon bounced back after a couple of days, but when it did have it, it was the most stressful time we’ve been through in ages, mainly because we didn’t know what to expect, or how long it was going to go on for.

Currently Rajan is teething and giving us loads of grief. As soon as the pain kicks in he’ll start pinching, scratching, and poking our eyes out. He’ll turn on you at any second!

Very busy at work at the moment, we’ve taken on a new account manager who is keeping us very busy, and keeping the lads (Andy & Luke) on their toes. We’re pretty excited about a couple of iphone apps we’ve created, hopefully we’ll have more projects like those. So thats it for another couple of months.

About a month ago I went to Whisky Live at Glasgow SECC for the first time, sampling whisky from all over the world, and actually learning how to sample whisky properly. The nosing, the tasting etc.. learning about different regions.

The highlight of the visit was visiting Glengoyne Distillery, sampling the 10yr/12yr (which i bought a bottle - rumour is that they will stop making any more Glengoyne 12 Year Old Cask Strength Single Highland Malt), 16yr,17yrs & 21yrs. (pictures on my flickr). If you go to these types of events/distilleries its worth getting a note book to jot down information about the sampling.

The best Whisky of all was the Springbank, Chieftains 27yrs, currently this bottle sells for around £300, but I have seen some online shops selling for around £150, it definitely worth getting. Springbank is definitely the Rolls Royce of Whiskys.

Thought i’d do a quick round up of whats been doing on, Well the start of September begun with a relaxing 2 week break in Spain (La Finca), where the family enjoyed the sun, the beach and the shops.

Wasn’t sure how Rajan was going to react to the heat, but he didn’t seem to mind it so much, and it was a great test for us as parent to see how we’d cope with the little fella.

Rajan’s first trip to the beach went pretty well, he seemed a little nervous as we dipped his toes in, after that he was loving the warm sea water hitting his legs.

At work we’ve moved to a new office, we’ve still got bits to do, but we’re settling in nicely. Pictures can be seen on the the 383 Project blog.

Recently watched films: Bee Movie, great movie, we watched it every morning while feeding Rajan, i pretty much know every scene word by word. Rating: 7/10

Hancock, loved it! I’ve read some pretty poor reviews, but I’m still a Will Smith fan, i loved this movie. Rating 8/10

Man on Fire, This film started out slow, but then it quickly picks up momentum, the story line is ok, but Denzel Wasington preforms well as always. Rating 7.7/10

Just to follow on from the post in July about media setup, I recently installed the new OS on my laptop at home, which meant I could download and play around with Rivet. So far, so good. I can access all my music, photos & videos on my Time Capsule without any hiccups.

When I first downloaded Rivet, it just didn’t work at all, I read a couple of forums and most people were having the same problem where the Rivet icon would constantly stay on red. I uninstalled everything and had one last go with it, luckily everything went ok.

I’d now say its alot better the Connect360, mainly because I can access all my media on the Time Capsule.

The demo version lets you watch 1 video, listen to 10 music files and unlimited photos, although on mine I can somehow watch about 5/6 video before it stops, which is fine, I’m guessing its just some sort of glitch, but this suits me fine

Rivet Features

Music streaming - Listen to your iTunes music library through your stereo system and while playing games.

Video streaming - No need to let your big screen TV go to waste because your video files are all on your Mac. Stream them over to it and fully enjoy them in the comfort of your couch.

Photo streaming - View all of your photos right on your TV. It’s vacation slides for the 21st century. Your family and friends won’t be able to get enough! You can share photos from both your iPhoto or Aperture libraries and from folders on your hard drive.

Organize your media - Every movie or photo folder that you share is exactly replicated on your Xbox 360. Organize them into subfolders by TV show, genre, or whatever you want. The entire folder structure will be there. No more scrolling through a huge, flat list.

Auto media updating - Add, delete, or move your media all you want. The changes will automatically appear on your Xbox 360.

Format support - If your Xbox 360 can play it, Rivet can handle it. Supported formats include: AAC, MP3, WMA, H.264, DIVX, AVI, WMV, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, RAW, TIFF, PSD, PDF, and more.

Call me a video game apologist or just another gamer hack, but it’s true. Why should the video game industry be blamed for the problems all of humanity faces?

According to reports, Thailand has halted the sale of Grand Theft Auto 4 after a teenage boy confessed to robbing and murdering a taxi driver in an attempt to recreate a scene from the game.

“We are sending out requests today to outlets and shops to pull the games off their shelves and we will replace them with other games,” Sakchai Chotikachinda, sales and marketing director of New Era Interactive Media, told Reuters.

It’s been about a year since I’ve watched a horror film; it’s probably been longer since I watched a good one. The thing I liked about 1408 was it wasn’t all blood and gore (although I do love abit of bloody & gore).

Its got plenty of jumpy moments that made me think ‘why do I continue to watch these films!’ I wont give away the ending, but there’s a cool twist in the end, an its worth watching, and worth watching with the lights off.

Story line: Room 1408 is haunted, Michael Enslin reviews haunted hotels, so obviously has to stay there, most of its predictable, but its nice to watch a horror film with a decent story line.
